I like that I get to work with different people every day on different problems, which means every day is different for me.

Something I dislike (or rather, something I find frustrating) is when I have to wait for the information I need, because the engineer who has that information may be busy on other projects. This can cause a delay to other pieces of work whilst we wait for that information so it can be rather frustrating!

I love solving problems, and getting to spend time talking to different people, with different backgrounds, all over the world. I also love the satisfaction of feeling like I’ve made a difference to someone’s life (or hopefully many people’s lives) with a successful project.

I guess the thing I dislike is that you often have to pick which problems to solve, because there are always other limitations (like time and money!), so there are sometimes smaller things which are left unsolved, and that can be frustrating when you know you could have done it better!

Sometimes there are long hours to solve a problem. With building, you may have to work away from home a lot to be where you are building. This is a choice though and it pays more money.

I like that my work is often different from day to day – it’s rarely boring and I get to work with a diverse team to solve interesting and challenging problems.
The bit I dislike is that sometimes a whole pile of problems can come at once and suddenly we are overwhelmed with so much to do and we all have to work long hours and weekends to fix things. This doesn’t happen all the time (between 2-5 times a year), but if it happens when you have something planned it doesn’t matter, we have to solve the issues to get the plant working again. But I would say the trade off is worth it!

i like that its a challenge, there’s always something to fix or a problem to solve. i like figuring things out and working as a team.
i dislike that sometimes fixing things has to be done really quickly, and if the problem is really hard to solve it’s a lot of hard work and pressure to get it done!

I really enjoy working on all the different processes and seeing the different sites. I get to meet lots of people in different careers and job roles. Even though we all do different things, we are all working towards the same goal (getting the system to work).

I don’t enjoy (but I know it’s important and needs to be done) the paperwork that comes with it. Especially when all the companies use different templates for the same information and you have to work out which one they want to use. Sometimes different departments in the same company will use different templates. It’s frustrating but its only a small aspect of the job thankfully.
