Question: what role does a software engineer play when broadcasting to television studios and homes across the world?

Great question! These days software is everywhere. Software engineers are involved in all sorts of things, from writing applications like iPlayer and other apps, to building software that we use to control robotic cameras automatically, or building tools that we can use internally to get things done. I’m not a software engineer myself, but even I get involved in little bits of software – during lockdown I helped write an application to help reporters record interviews from their homes, with guests in other houses.
